STAMP QUALITY & CARE

The Quality of Kitchen Sink Stamps - 100% made in the USA.

Our stamps are made from a High-Quality Clear Photopolymer resin that won’t turn yellow*. They have a deep etch and hold fine details. They are not made from silicon like some stamps made overseas.

This Photopolymer resin is porous which soaks up the ink for a crisp impression and works well with all types of inks*. Staining from inks may occur, but this does not affect the quality of the stamp. Silicon stamps are not porous so the ink will sit on the stamp surface and bead up.

No need the cut Kitchen Sink Stamps apart, they are all ready for you to play. Just carefully peel the stamp off its protective acetate sheet, place it on your acrylic block, and start having some stamping fun!

An Important message from the manufacturer (Clear Stamp Inc.) of Kitchen Sink Stamps.

“We continue to monitor and test products coming from overseas. It has come to our attention that many of the imported clear stamps contain phthalates. Phthalates are known to cause cancer, birth defects, and reproductive harm. The photopolymer clear stamps produced by Clear Stamp Inc. [for Kitchen Sink Stamps] have NO harmful chemicals and are also latex-free.”  - Clear Stamp Inc. 6/11/08

TRANSFERING NEW STAMPS TO COLOR ID FILM (back)

What you will find when opening your new package of Kitchen Sink Stamps:

• A set of clear photopolymer stamps in between two pieces of the clear protective film

• Color ID Film

• Suggested Stamp Alignment Guide

First: Pull out together the new stamps and color ID fIlm out from the cello package. With both pieces still together, turn them over so the color ID film is facing down (preferably on a light color surface or on top of a piece of white paper) and with the stamps between the clear protective film facing up (the stamps image-side will now on top). NOTE: The numbers and any writing on the Color ID FIlm and sentiment stamps should be reading backwards.

Next: Slide the stamps between the clear protective film to the side and carefully pull off the top film.

Next: Carefully peel back each clear stamp (starting at a corner and pulling slowly will help prevent tearing) place it on the matching image on the back of the color ID FIlm. NOTE: It is easier to start moving the stamps by working at the top or bottom of a corner and working your way across until every stamp has been placed on the color ID film.

PLEASE NOTE: If you ever accidentally place your stamps (image side) on the FRONT of the Color ID Film, the stamp (if new and very sticky) can remove some of the ink from the ID Film and transfer it to the stamp. This dry ink (now on the image side of the stamp) will result in the stamp not stamping a crisp image properly. The best way to remove this ink is to clean the stamp with rubbing alcohol.

Caring for your Kitchen Sink Stamps:

Care: Keep stamps out of direct sunlight and long exposures to UV lighting (this includes fluorescent lights)**. Keep stamps out of high temperatures. Both of these factors can affect the quality of the stamps.

Clear stamps may also be cleaned by wiping with a damp soft cloth or spraying with a clear stamp cleaner, letting the stamp sit a bit to loosen any dried ink, and then rinse under cool (not hot/not cold) running water*. Soap is not recommended and will leave a residue that can affect the way ink adheres to the stamp.

*NOTE: To remove dried-on crusted ink out of small detailed areas of a stamp, I have used a very soft baby toothbrush, gently brushing under running water ... just don’t brush too hard! (This is not a recommendation from the manufacturer).

Block Cleaning: Even your acrylic stamping blocks need a good cleaning. Ink residue can build up and prevent the stamp from sticking. I recommend cleaning your blocks with rubbing alcohol. If you like to number your clear blocks to identify the stamping step "layer" (#1, #2, #3...), rubbing alcohol will remove Sharpie ink too.

Stickiness: If your clear stamps lose some of their “stickiness” and are not sticking to their blocks the way they used to when new... all you need to do is wipe the backside of the stamp with good old-fashioned rubbing alcohol. Allow the alcohol to completely air dry. The stamp will now be as good as new. Natural oils from our fingers and ink residue build up, leaving the stamps less “sticky”.

Drying: Air drying** is recommended or pat dry with a LINT-FREE soft cloth. When stamps are dry, they should be returned to their protective storage place.

**NOTE: While stamps are air drying, don’t leave cleaned stamps in a brightly lit place. Photopolymer stamps are sensitive to UV light and long periods of exposure to UV light/direct sunlight can cause the stamp to turn yellow.

Storing: There are a few ways to safely store clear stamps.

 •  Keep your clear stamps in between the 2 pieces of protective film from their original packaging and store them out of direct sunlight or any UV light**.

 •  Some stampers like to store their clear stamps in DVD cases or CD jewel cases (out of direct sunlight will prevent yellowing).

WARNING! Do NOT store your clear stamps where the stamp itself can touch any metal. The metal can cause a reaction in the photopolymer, causing the stamp to break down.

INKS and your Kitchen Sink Stamps:

Kitchen Sink Clear Stamps work well with all types of inks***. Staining from some types of inks may occur, but this does not affect the quality of the stamp. Because photopolymer stamps are porous, ink pigments can get embedded into the stamp, causing the stamp to “stain”.

Humidity and temperature can cause different inks to respond differently when inking up a stamp. Stamping right next to a fan or air conditioner or a warm breeze from a window can cause the ink to "bead up". Our clear stamps DO NOT need any conditioning before stamping. When beading occurs, it is usually due to air or temperature conditions. [Side Note: I have come across some ink colors (and brands differ), and have a chemical makeup that wants to bead up on any type of stamp - clear and red rubber.]

***NOTE: If you choose to use an alcohol base ink, such as Staz-on, DO NOT use the Staz-on cleaner. It will have a chemical reaction and damage the stamp. Use a stamp cleaner made especially for clear, photopolymer stamps Only. When I use Staz-on, I wipe the stamp with a damp cloth and rubbing alcohol. The stamp will be permanently stained, but the quality of the stamp hasn't been compromised.
